Bottle roses include roses that can actually be found in any product group roses. The most well-known are the Rosa Rugosa roses ( Japanese wrinkle rose ) Rosa canina ( dog rose ) and Rosa rubiginosa ( hedgehog lantern ). However, there are also stunning specimens available in the more cultivated varieties that make beautiful hips. Bottle roses are strong plants that are easy to maintain. They thrive in almost all soil types as long as they are not too wet or too acidic. As with all roses, bottled roses also like a sunny position. Bottles arise from the flowers; it is advisable not to prune the roses back after the first or second flowering. This ensures that hips can form which will decorate your garden and terrace until well into autumn and winter. The hips are also an important source of food, especially for birds.
🌹The rose flowering season is slowly drawing to a close, but there is still a very extensive range of potted shrub, climbing and standard roses available at Rosarium Lottum🌹 Potted roses can be planted all year round. The bare-root season began at the start of October. If you opt for bare-root roses, you can order and arrange delivery via the online shop. If you’d like to collect these bare-root roses, please order first and arrange a collection by appointment. Plant your roses now and enjoy the Queen of Flowers to the full again next spring! You are very welcome at Rosarium Lottum; our rose paradise is open every day, including Sundays. Please note: in October, we’re open on Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm. You can pre-order bare-root roses (i.e. without soil or a pot) for the 2026–2027 season via our online shop. These roses can be delivered from mid-October to mid-April (subject to weather conditions).
